The Lilacs Suite for New Horizons String Orchestra
Time: 7:30 pm
Come out and hear Sherry's new piece for hammered dulcimer and MacPhail's New Horizons Orchestra, The Lilacs Suite! May 7th at 7:30 p.m.; free; Antonello Hall at downtown Minneapolis MacPhail Center for Music. Judith Eisner commissioned this piece for her adult string orchestra, with a starring role for Stu Janis on hammered dulcimer. The Lilacs Suite, in three movements, has a decidedly New England-style vibe: a contradance reel, a waltz, and an Irish-style jig. The orchestra is great fun and so is the piece, so come on down! Free and suitable for all audiences.
